The Michigan Red Sox 14u team will be head coached by Mike Rau. Mike is a graduate of Rochester High School and Rochester College where he played baseball for 4 years. He is currently at Oakland University getting his graduate degree in physical therapy. Mike was an assistant coach with the Oakland Cyclones in 2018. He will run the Michigan Red Sox 14u team for 2019 which begins training in late October. We are looking to put together players who are entering 8th grade to allow us to compete in tournaments from mid April through the second weekend of July.
Fall - Our program could begin as early as the end of August with our Motor City Power program. If we don’t have enough interest, we may get together for a few workouts to see what our players can do.
Classes - At the end of October, we start our developmental classes. These are a series of 20 one hour classes that introduces the players to our teachings. Classes are broken down by age levels and the classes are spread out until early December.
Practices - In January we will begin indoor training practices going twice a week at our training center in Waterford. By mid February we will move to three times a week until the end of March. Once we get outside, it will be our plan to try to practice at least once a week and have games on the weekends.
Tournaments – I expect our team to participate in 12-13 tournaments beginning in early April based on our weather. At our parent meeting we will discuss weekend availability and schedule tournaments around the majority of weekends that everyone is available.
